When setting timing marks on a mitsubishi 2.5 V6, do all timing marks stay aligned with the timing marks on the engine block? Because, the manual says, turn crank gear back 3 notches from top dead center.

My cousin flipped it going up a steep hill and kinda crushed the front end. We've had a hard time down shifting it when we got to it and now it won't do it at all. It will up shift no problem and we can down shift manually. Its just the button on the handle bars. Any ideas on what could be the...
