so i bought a 2005 ford escape xlt about a month ago and i just noticed when i put on the ebrake the car doesnt stop( like on my slanted driveway), is there like a feature when u put it in park it activates it? or what?

I have a 2005 xlt ford escape 3.0 v6 and my sunroof opens great like it's new but when it closes it sometimes stutter or sometimes even stops and I have to repress the button. I am wondering what causes this and how it can be fixed. Thanks
