    What is the proper way to cover mesh over cracks to avoid bumps appearing later

    when painting? I applied mesh then put sprackling paste (like putty)over the mesh but it gives an uneven appearance to the plaster on the ceiling, leading me to conclude that if I paint it now, you will see uneven areas all over the ceiling where the mesh and putty went on.
