Yes if you keep up the water changes, the 10g filter will do FOR A BIT. Goldfish are messy fish, so if you can you should get a 50g filter, if not a 30g would be ok.

Well what you read was wrong. Bettas are territorial fish and like it all to themselves. Besides, a goldfish gets to big for a 10gal. That betta would love you for getting the goldies out and let him be his own fish.
