    1993 chevy 1500 randomly not starting?

    Sounds like a starter to me. It could be an ignition switch also. Usually the starter will "click" a few times and then will finally take off.

    would like to know where vin numbers are located on a 84 chevy truck?

    Check the left side of the dash, looking through the windshield. It could also be on a tag in the glovebox or on the inside of the drivers door.
