It just shows it in a different way. I believe it shows check marks for delivered, envelopes for received, and an open envelope for read.

I believe you'll have to go into your music folders, and drag & drop the songs onto the phone, which SHOULD show up in your device list as a hard drive. I'm almost positive it won't sync with iTunes, though, it isn't an apple product.

I think that you can get the best deal by upgrading through the Verizon web site, actually. Usually they have web-only discounts available, there. But if the Amazon deal is the best you can see, wait until the contract is over and then go ahead and go for that.
