...first than shift to drive? the car is salvage title the engine cradle was bent when i bought it and had to pretty much put a new front end on the car

I left it sitting for about 2 years and just now got it back out. I cleaned the carburetor out, dranined the old fuel, and cleaned it up. I was using starter fluid to get it started, and it would run for about 30 seconds or so and then just muffle out. Any ideas on what I can do?
