I have extremely hard alkaline water. Ph of 8, Kh & Gh of 300. I got a Brita system and that seemed to help. I mixed tap and filtered water 50/50. My ph is now down to about 7, Kh to about 120, which the scale says is ideal. The nitrates and nitrites are nil. Why is my Gh still so high? Nothing...

I have extremely hard alkaline water. What fish would do best in my tank, and what are the size requirements? Also, is there any way I can soften the water short of installing a water softener system?
