I have just switched to a mac, is it just me or is iphoto basic in comparison to photoshop? Can you create images and draw or use anything like the features photoshop has?

Does the panasonic DMC-FZ35 have high quality images as well as super zoom? I want photos that are just somewhat professional looking, would this be the right camera for that? thanks (:
