That is a bit high for a 5 year old Sportster, but since it's a dealer you're going to pay more than if you get it from a private party. Either look at ones for sale from a private party or save up a little more and go for a Dyna model.
It's not difficult at all. I took a rider class when I decided motorcycling was something I wanted to do. I didn't know how to drive a stick shift in a car either, but it only took a short time on the bike and I had it down. You'll do just fine. You might want to consider a Harley Sportster...
