    Because conflict leads to change, and change is necessary for any kind of improvement. Without conflict (and thus change), any kind of organization will stagnate, and it will slowly decrease in efficiency and activity until it "dies," so to speak. This is true with everything.

    What happened to the desire for the pale, much whiter skin that was seen so widely in Elizabethan and Victorian times? What has caused such a shift in attractions?
