Hi I have lead acid batteries in my E-bike and I was wondering that to ensure long battery life and maintain high capacity, should I charge it after every use or only when its depleted? Or should I charge it after every use but deplete it once in a while? How does cold affect the battery?

I will use it to go to school. My school is 7 km away from where I live. So thats 14 km a day. I need a bike which can go that far with 1 charge. Which is the best battery type for this? cuz there are lots. Does cold affect the battery's performance? cuz I will use it during the winter too.
