    Can I open the pan pid to check when the instructions say to "cover and simmer"?

    The instructions on a box of flavored rice say to "cover and simmer for 15 minutes until tender". I often open the pan lid to check on the food; does this somehow negatively impact the cooking process? Or should I not open the lid at all until the 15 minutes are up? Thanks!

    According to the recovery manager on my HP entertainment notebook, an "HP USB DVB-T TV Tuner" driver is factory installed. Does this mean my laptop has a TV tuner enabled? Thanks.
