i want to get the tmobile skull candy headset with the mic to use with my cliq xt, but i also want to know if it will work with my ipod touch yes they are the same 3.5 mm size

So at the moment i am under tmobile contract for a year or something..say i were to upgrade and extend for 2 years and then later that month change to one of the no contract plans....would this work? i know there is an activation fee and stuff but can i still get away with a discounted new phone?
