    what is the definition of mixed media?

    i know this might sound stupid... but i was wondering, if i use a pencil to draw simple basic outline on the canvas before painting using acrylic... and the end product doesn't show any trace of the pencil anymore... is that considered as an acrylic painting or a mixed media...

    how many colors do you use when you start painting?

    when painting a picture, i always only need five colors (red, blue, yellow, white n black) because i always mix the paint to get other colors... i'm just wondering if everyone else does the same
