    Are 70's road bikes still good riders?

    I'm going to get a 70's road bike to take with me to school. It's going to be a heavy steel bike. Should I do this, or should i fork out the money for a newer bike?

    ive just installed a new crankshaft and now ive put it all back together it starts off kick start and i have to hold throttle full open to make it tick over, and as im doing this i have lifted the back wheel and it full revs outer control, any ideas? thanks
