I agree with the answer above.The engine cradle and other mounting points would have to be modified for anything except what was originally in it.Many engines are shorter or wider than the stock one,but the car is designed around it in locating mounting points for engine and transmission.The escort engine is front wheel drive in a small hood which requires that the water pump be recessed into the block for adequate clearance on the timing belt side.
