have low-grade fever? I'm being treated for a month-old sinus infection and have been taking 2000mg of amoxicillin a day since Sunday. My course is finished Tuesday so today marks the half-way point. Physically I feel better (still have facial pain/pressure, cough, etc. but symptoms are definitely improved) and in addition to the usual clear mucus I am finally getting some slightly greenish/yellow thicker mucus out today, which I assume is sinus drainage so I figure that's the infection making it's way out. My concern is that I've been running an extremely low-grade temp/fever (99.5-100.5) for about a month now, nearly continuously. It usually "breaks" (with clamminess and cold sweats) and goes down to around 98.9 in the very early morning hours and rises steadily throughout the next day/afternoon/evening only to repeat the cycle all over again. I've been told this is due to the bacterial sinusitis and that the antibiotics will help get rid of the infection and then the elevated temp will eventually go away. I've only ever been on antibiotics once before a long time ago (it was for a sinus infection then too) and I don't remember much about the recovery so I assume it's normal to still have the symptoms at this point?
Maybe I'm putting the horse before the cart, but my concern is what happens if in a few days if I've still got the temp towards the end of my course of antibiotics? Could my antibiotic course be extended? I don't want to make this infection worse or resistant to antibiotics or anything. When should I call the clinic to ask? Also, Is it normal to still have the temp along with the infection halfway through the antibiotic cycle? And even though it's low grade, is the temp anything to worry about? If not, what should I be on the lookout for? Because, honestly, this is all kind of scaring me, because it's been going on for so long. Please help me, I can't help but be kind of stressed about this stuff. Thank you!
Forgot to add, since I'm sure some medical professional would know: is it normal for the symptoms to become worse/more pronounced at night? Thanks again!
