If you think you are going to go with the amp later, you will need the 2 ohm speakers as the amp is rated at 2 ohms. We wouldn't recommend running the 8 ohm speakers with the 2 ohm amp.

ironhead3fan ,,,,,

sorry for the confusion ,,,, the J&M amp should work fine with your Radio Shack head unit ,,,

wiring harnesses and all should just plug right in ,,,,,,, just like they do with the HK radio ,,,

you could even use the RCA's on the J&M amp, for the signal input from the radio, if your radio is so equipped ,,,,, then just flip the switch on the J&M amp to RCA input mode ,,,

Just let us know how we can help ,,,,

JMJOHN, did you mean to say Radio Sound instead of Radio Shack? This also bears another question, will an HK radio plug right into my 03 without issue?

IronHead ,,,,,,

ahh ,,, my mistake, I thought YOU said RadioShack, but you did not, you said Radio Sound and they made the stock radios for Harley for the 1998-2005 models ,,,,,,

and those Radio Sound head units are too large to be used with the J&M 250w amplifier kit ,,,,,

I have seen more than one 1998-2005 Harley Ultra with a later model Harley HK radio installed into it, and I don't think it is any more complicated than a few replacement wiring harnesses ,,,,,,

sorry again for my brain-fart ,,,,

From what I understand, you can run the J&M amp on the 98-05 Radio Sound headunits, but you can't run the J&M brackets that come with the amp kit. You have to use heavy duty velcro strips and mount it creatively on top of the headunit. It is well worth the effort as the sound output is awesome!
