What do you think, I know there is a problem with this area my wifes bike starting leaking there last yr, Now my 2010 is leaking there also. I called the dealer and they said they know about the problem and that They will need to pull the trans out of the bike to fix it. I know they didnt do this on my wifes bike but they claim they did. I am thinking of dropping the exhaust and just putting some locktite and retourqe for now. They said they would need my bike for 3to4 days. Summer is coming to end and dont want it in the shop that long, plus I from what I see even if they replace the gasket they should not to pull the trans ?

That bracket get's a lot of vibration from the pipe. It should only require a new trap door gasket. Which of course still requires the trans gears to be removed. As well as the primary. The trans case remains on the bike at least.
Good thing they're covering it under warranty - $$$$$!!!
Your idea of retorquing has helped some on here. Should get you through the rest of riding season at least.

Happened to me too, sorta...The bolts fell slam out of my bike. Got the specs on the bolts as far as diameter, threads per inch, and length from the dealer via phone. Bought them at a hardware store to get me home. Ended up getting the right ones from the dealer and I keep checking the torque at every oil change and have not had this problem since...

Thanks, I will tourqe them for now and keep a eye on it, the idea of them taking apart my new bikes scares me more than the oil leak. Hopefully this will last a few more months.

it happened on my '09 SG...dealer had to put the trans, mechanic brought me the gasket it was chewed up he said it was caused by the loose bolt..they fixed and locktited it..no problems since

you don't have to pull the gears to replace the trans end gasket. pull the rear exhaust and pull the end door where the clutch cable enters. be careful not to over torque the clutch cable nut or it will leak and the oil blows back on the trans making it look as if the trans is leaking. I'd clean this area real good and watch the cable nut for leakage. Stealer may be looking for a quick profit.

Thanks Cobalt7,

She's still under warranty, but thanks for the infor. The service manager said it would take about 4.5 hours to fix. It's in the shop as we speak.
