Confirm T-mobile Hot Spot Home 9.95

September 5, '07

Just added this for 9.95 to my existing T-Mobile plan.

The representative that I spoke to was "usure" if this could be done if you did currently not have a wifi enable phone.

I insisted (nicely) "oh, yes it can," in order to lock in the rate at 9.95 BEFORE Sept. 12.

She searched for several minutes - "Yes, you're right! Wow! I didn't know that. Okay, it's done."

So, of you're looking to take advantage of this pricing, you may have to insist a bit. She was ready to deny the availablity if you "don't currently own a wifi phone."

So ... it can be done as of 9/5/07....for those stilll interested.

That was my experience this afternoon.

you can do it....

just call customer service and tell them you want to add the hot-spot at home feature to your plan and if they ask you any questions, just tell them your friend is giving you his phone, but just keep in mind your not going to be able to get the 50 dollar router with the 50 dollar mail in rebate when you do this

I went to tmo and got the $9.95 service added without having to purchase a phone and got the router, with the rebate.all I had to pay for was the router but with the rebate its free. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Completly Missed the Router Thing. . .

I know the router is needed, but how DOES ONE get it?

I could NOT figure that out.

Any help out there.

There is a corporate store in the next town over that I go to . So, I would go to an actual store cause I'm not sure if the mall booth type of location will have it.

they are both the same exact routers, some capabilities and everything. the main difference is the name and size. some people swear by linksys and others by d link. it's all preference really

Ah-ha!

Just figured out the Router thing......

Called, ordered the router for 49.95, which SHIPS with a 49.95, rebate.

Essentially, the router becomes "free" but will be charged to your bill. Subscriber must do the "rebate thing."

Also had some problems with email push, etc.

Best TECH SUPPORT I've ever run into (The BB-part especially). They speak - get this - English! They're actually in the U.S.!!!! And I'll bet Paul's name really is PAUL! Ha!

All things fixed, running properly, etc.

Very happy with this company!!!

The wi-fi enabled phone uses your home wi-fi router as the connection when you're at home.

It does not use up minutes, etc.

So, as long as you're home - calls are "free" so-to-speak.

The wi-fi phone will also pick up on other free public wi-fi locations - although I'm not sure just yet how the internal programing of the phone must be set up. But I'll know soon!

T-Mobile "HOT SPOT" locations that they normally charge for, will continue to carry a "sign up" just as they do now.

But if you'er near free/public wi-fi, the cost is zero.

To add on, hotspot@ home service does two things, if you are in an area with poor receptiona dn you have a high speed internet connection. you purchase one of the hotspot phones, and you purchase one of our routers, they are 50$ w/ a 50$ mail in rebate. so it's free, and that will increase your service to full service at your home.
You can also add the hot spot feature right now it's on promotion and after the 12th, it'll will go up ten dollars for single and family plans. And you'll have unlimited calling at your home, and you'll have unlimited calling at any location that offers free wifi, so you can go to any t-mobile hotspot, you can go to a coffee shop that overs free wifi, you can even go to your friends house and it will be unlimited calling to any number in the us. it's sort of like a vonage but for your cellphone

t-mobile is going in the direction of not replacing your home phone but staying connected to your friends and family!that way you can always being connected. when you are away from your home and not by a hotspot location you go back using your whenever minutes. iff you are on a phone call before you get to your hotspot location you would still continue using your whenever minutes until you get off the phone and connect to your wireless network.

the importanceof the routers is another thing that people are worried about. well the routers are jst like any other routers, and you are more than welcomed to use yours but the only thing is, if you don't have any one of t-mobile's routers and you are having a problem tech support won't be able to troubleshoot it. lso, our routers are designed for better voice clarity, and it sperates the bandwith and gives enough bandwith to the phone so it sounds great and not robotic. also it saves on battery life of the phone. so there are a few advantages, and besides they are free after rebates. you can have a total of 5 phones utilizing one router.

Hope that answers most of anyone's questions, if you have any other questions go ahead and pm me, i'll be glad to answer anything else

You may have a problem getting a rebate on your router  . I just did 2 and noticed the following:

1. You will note on the form it asks for the phone number of your H@H phone...
2. Your rebate requires that at least 1 phone call be made on the router...

I think, by the time it arrives and one purchases a new phone, that can be accomplished (the 24th on the phones, if I am correct).

Now, if you wait several months - that might be a problem.

Maybe we can get the right people to weigh in on this here . ...

Anyone.....?
