How to: Use your 7105t Blackberry as a Moden.

I have talk to T-Mobile Tech Support. it dident take Long and i was Connected at 115.3Kbps Running off my Blackberry. I`m i know that this WORKS.... here is what you do. i have T-Mobile so i know it works with them and the Other Blackberrys and servis Providers i realy dont have a clue on.

Set up my Blackberry with the internet


1. On the PC, connect the USB cable from the USB port to the side of the handset.
Windows will detect the handset and install the drivers.
2. Double click on the Desktop Manager icon.
3. Click on Options and then Connection Settings.
4. Click on Detect.
5. When the Warning dialog box appears, click on OK.
6. The dialog box should display: USB handheld found, then click on OK.
7. Ensure that the Connection field displays USB-PIN: XXXX and click on OK.
8. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel and then double click on the System icon.
9. Click on the Hardware tab and then click on the Device Manager button.
10. Click the + next to Ports (COM & LPT) and make a note of which COM port is assigned
to the RIM Virtual Serial Port.
11. Return to the Control Panel and double click on the Phone and Modem Options icon.
12. Click on the Modems tab and click on Add....
13. Check Don't detect my modem; and click on Next.
14. Click to select Standard Modem Types from the Manufacturer list.
15. Click to select Standard 56000 bps Modem from the Models list.
16. Click on Next.
17. Click to select the COM port assigned to the RIM Virtual Serial Port and click on Next.
18. Click on Finish.
19. Click once on the Standard 56000 bps Modem and click on Properties.
20. Click on the Advanced tab.
21. Type +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream","",0,0 in the Extra initialization commands field.
22. Click on OK to complete the setup.



Setting up the connection

1. On the PC, click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, and then double click on Network Connections.
2. Click on the link to Create a new connection.
3. This will open a New Connection Wizard. Click on Next to begin the setup.
4. Click to select Connect to the Internet.
5. Click on Next.
6. Click to select Set up my connection manually.
7. Click on Next.
8. Click to select Connect using a dial-up modem.
9. Click on Next.
10. Check the box to select the Standard 19200bps Modem.
11. Ensure it is the only modem checked, and click on Next.
12. For the ISP Name, type T-Mobile GPRS.
13. Click on Next.
14. For the Phone number type *99#
15. Click on Next.
16. If prompted, click to select whether you would like this connection available for Anyone
 
One quick question on using a BB as a modem. Is the Phone disabled when using this feature or will incoming calls, SMS Messages and Emails be accepted?

Everything will come through (atleast on an 8700).

If you receive a call, you will have the option to answer or not without breaking your connection.
 
Thanks N8, that was what I expected, but just wanted to verify it. I was responding to a poster this morning that really expected to get the same results with using a 8707 as a modem as his 3g modem card on his laptop and wasn't sure about the overhead of the BB phone app.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~Just an observation, but I think if you are on the phone for more than 15 minutes the internet conection will disconnect. Just click reconect and you are good to go.
 
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i thought with t mobile you not only had to suscribe to the unlimited bb plan but also a internet plan as wellm
 
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, and some of the links in the instructions are in different locations. Anyone able to get it working with Windows Vista Premium?
 
I'm having no luck at all getting my computer to even see my 7105t. When I plug it into my USB port, I hear the system chirp meaning it's connected, but when I click on 'Connection Settings', then on 'Detect', it does not find my BlackBerry. Has anyone gotten this to work with Windows Vista Home Premium??? Any suggestions??
