i880 ringtones with sd card

i apologize in advance if i just missed the thread, but i've been looking through these forums for a few days. I just got an i880 and would like to load some ringtones on it. I don't have a usb cable, nor a bluetooth adapter for my pc. I've read in a couple threads that it's possible to load them using the sd card, but have yet to find anywhere telling me how its done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need an SD card reader, take card out of phone, plug in to reader put ringtones in audio folder.

I understand about putting the files in the audio folder. That part works perfectly fine except I'm unable to set the files as ringtones. That was what I had a question about. When I click menu on an audio file in media center there's no option to "assign as ringtone".

Thats because the media center files are in the music folder.
The Ringtones are in the Audio folder, and can't be accessed through the media center. Try the Sounds menue

i have the ringtones in the audio folder. im not talking about files that play in the music player (ie mp3s) i can access the ringtones with the sounds player from the media center, i just cant set them as ringtones.

OK, what about the Ringtone menue?
You may have the wrong format. have you viewed this link: media-formats?

once i get a file that works ill be able to figure out how to change my files' properties to match it

yea im having the same probelm i can acess them in my media center but not to ringtones
