aight u got me really worried now lol ... i think im gonna stop doing it ... but no i dont know like rogers offers stupid ridiculous data plans ... i cant do 4mb per month last month i used around 30 ....

Yeah, be on the look up for their BES updates. On the other hand, I got my bill! 1731kb data used, charges $0.00. Whoo! Too bad I'm on 4.3 now, no Opera, though it's a relative tradeoff for A2DP.

coming out when? even if rogers asked for the code it would take a lot of time or PAID man hours to find the right code to add in and probably a round of betatests for bugs or other things that can go wrong with software AND have the product ready by deadlines. Though i dont deny you it can happen (ie. Rogers actually paying insane amounts of cash to get it done lol)and pity the guys who get dinged i've seen what can ACCURATELY be tracked with BES *crosses fingers*,
i personally dont see it happening (lets hope im right) because all the other carriers around the world have UD plan options so this wouldnt affect them....why hack what you dont need to?
and because i would also say that in RIM eyes, Rogers, though they would be in the top three of wireless giants IN Canada, in sad reality they would be just another bottom feeder in the Worldwide market.

in better news (i guess)
Rogers has the new $7 unlimited web browsing or $20 communicate value plan which includes unlimited web browsing ,2500 txt, 1000 mms, voice, whocalled, namedisplay (which at the end of the month is free for all rogers customers) from your phone, only thing is that it wont work with blackberry phones ( i talked to a customer care rep last night). they said if i wanted to web browse mmhhmp i would have to get a BB data plan..........WTF,
now if we could only hack that to work somehow with our blackberries then the world would be at peace, and Rogers would be my bestest friend.........maybe

RIM has made public statements about the high price of data in canada holding them back and preventing sales for them I don`t see them helping Rogers out in this regard.

well they have to help, as this proves that rim software is indeed imperfect and rogers can simply state that it is not worth lowering their price to open up to something like that. This loop taints rim as they are the developers of the software. Although i do think it is fair for prices to go down, and i would be happy to pay 7 for unlimited browsing (bell had this for a years i believe, year at least), so why not stop being dicks and bundle the browsing and email unltimate at 40-50$, i know its till high, but people also have to understand that there is much less people in canada, so such low prices as in us are simply unprofitable as much as other corps. But the proces taht we are getting charged right now are indeed ridicolus.

All we can do Gene is wait for the OS and see til then lets just enjoy what we got I guess. If things change Telus has all you can eat for $45 and thats where Ill go Im losing my patience with Rogers, tired of waiting for them to wake up I dont see it happening.

And as for it proving imperfections in RIM software...hardly Rogers decides to release this new plan with email only which is not the way BB are meant be used so if things dont work the way Rogers wants it to...take the dirt road thats the way I see RIM playing that out

well i guess youre right clarkekent and im really enjoying using my tutorial on that plan but the only thing missing from the experience is the blackberry browser ... i HATE opera mini ... but yeah i guess wait and see ... i should do some experiments on how to get the berry browser to work ... ill keep you guys posted

Hehe, go ahead. Then come cry that you got insane bills somehow. Like a customer that was shopping a bb plan a few months ago...she went with telus for the unlimited plan of course, then she got a 90$ first bill..next 160ish and third was like 900$. Data usage fees. She told us that the other day and we gave her tips to get some of it removed and telus was pleased to cut her bill by...200$ LOL! so much for UNLIMITED data. Shes going to pay for early termaniation and sign up with us. We may not offer plans like telus or bell but we don't screw up our customers like them. Say what you want but Telus are cheap only in advertising and makes their money back by scamming their customers.

She was probably misinformed, when Telus first released the $15 plan it was secretly told it was unlimited data as well, well things have changed now if you want unlimited everything it's $45 dollars all you can eat not a penny more, and I will be jumping ship if things change with this plan we're enjoying.

Maybe the lady would like to switch contracts with me lol

To save some time, this won't happen. There are built in controls on the BES / BIS server to simply stop the browser. If you take a look at the screen shots you can see how it is a n on / off switch for the browser or even for example the camera. This is why I could see rim building in a control for items such as opera.

That happened to a friend of mine but he was with rogers. I kept getting told by rogers themselves that unless you have a data plan you cant surf the net or anything like that. My friend has a curve with no data but he somehow managed to rack up $800 worth of charges for "surfing the net". So he called them and asked about the data charges, they told him it was surfing the internet from 1 am to 7 am. He was livid. He told them "I have internet at home, i have internet at work, why would i be surfing on my blackberry at that time of day? especially if i dont have a data plan" and he threatened to leave so Rogers wiped the charges clean.

Very cool screenshots, thanks. Always wondered what a BES control panel would look like. It seems to allow a huge amount of control over individual's blackberries, but then again, i suppose it would being a corporate-targeted system.
