rogers wouldn't give me a data trial plan

my BBP is my first data enabled phone. My friend works at Rogers and told me if I called I would be able to get a 1 month data trial because I got a new BBP.

So I call them up, and the girl said that she can't give me a trial. but she did offer me a plan.

$25 for .5mb
$40 for 1mb
$45 for 2mb

you know, I don't want to sound skint because I know the expression "you gotta pay to play", but that is criminal IMO. They screwed themselves in two ways. They wouldn't give me a taste of what it is like to have a data plan so now I have no interest to pursue it. and their plans are soo bloody expensive I have no interest to buy it because you have to lock into it for 3 months.

Yeah, I know Rogers are the most expensive data provider in Canada since they are the only GSM carrier, they can do it since they are the only one having the newest models

My friend works for Wireless Wave. She told me the same thing, to call Rogers and since it was my first wireless handheld they could give me a free first month. I got the same responce from Rogers tho.... no go.

I opted to get the cheapest plan the .5 mb for $25. Problem is I am so scared to go over that amount that I barely use any data using features on my BB. I know they will hit me hard in the wallet if im not carefull.

update....i called Rogers back and put some preasure on them.

I got a 1month trial on the .5mb service, but decided not to take their FREEBIE because what she was going to do was sign me up for a plan and credit me the $25.

but I will not be protected if I go over the .5mb, and it will screw up my currect contract if I add the service.

what a bunch of crooks.

very true........
but I hate Telus. I used to be with them and will never go back............

BTW...
I know HATE is a harsh word, but I HATE THEM. yeah I said it!!!!!!!!

Watch what your saying I'm a Telus sales Rep

Kidding, you have your rights, but here in quebec, Bell is not an option and Rogers' network isn't good in my area so Telus is the solution

Wow those prices for the amount of data is redicolous. Really sucks for you Canadians, hopefully they change those plans. If I were in Canada I could just imagine my bill. I use between 70-90MB of data per month, thank you unlimited data plan. Hopefully things work out for you guys over there.

good, while I have your attention here is/was my BEEF with TELUS.

since 2001 I had an pre-paid plan. It was perfect, I didn't use it very much so it was $20 a month to keep my account topped up and I was happy as a pig in mud.

but in 2005 I was home shopping, work was picking up and I was using my mobile more and more. so I wanted a new handset and a post-paid plan. They told me I had to get a new phone number. I was beside myself, I have been with them for 4 years and all I wanted to do was buy a new phone and change my plan and they told me it was impossible. I had to get a new phone number. So if I had to get a new number I just left because I hated their service and hated their phone selection.

when I got their customer service for the last time after a week of negotiating to keep my number I actually said this "Ok, so you are telling me I need a phone number.........if I need a new number I had zero incentive you stay with you. what are you going to do to make me stay"............

Telus girl: "nothing sir, all our phones and plans are on our website. let us know what you want and call us back".

CLICK. that was the last time I had contact with them.

I did get a letter telling me my pre-paid phone plan was not used in 4 months blah blah blah, they will cancel it.

now I know this is well before number portability, but I was staying with the same Company. Made no sense to me.

You just spoke with the wrong person since I have real greast plan right now, and they don't even show up on Telus website.
But, I know for prepaid cell phone that makes only about a year and an half that they can keep it if they get post paid, sorry for what happened, sometimes CSR are so stupid I have to call back and speak with another one.

Anyway, if you wanna speak about it just PM me your PIN ( if you have your data plan ? )

I work for The New AT&T/Cingular and we dont offer any trials but our blackberry plans start at $29.99 for unlimited data and $39.99 unlimited data with 1500 text.
