SilverSun:

I've completed my first NLE music video (it's a remake of one of my old analogue ones; The Secret of My Success) and have it ready to go as an exported HuffYUV avi file.

Question:

What filters... If any... Do you use in AviSynth for post-production compression?

What are recommended settings for each?

.......

The reason I ask is the music videos we make aren't Anime and are live action, 24 FPS (Progressive) film sources (DVD via AviSynth direct editing) and they look pretty damn good as is in my humble opinion.

I'm not a digiphile who is going to sit there and make sure every single pixel is correctly colored and things like that, but I'm also not going to release garbage quality videos either since this is the age of lossless digital medium as well.

I'm also asking because most of the guides on the net are for Anime and a lot of the stuff does not apply once you get familiar with what you are doing and the general process of how you go about making videos in NLE programs from DVD source material.

Thanks :)

Sure, or if youtube.com works for you. I can just give you the link to my video there?

*Dark_Angel*4eva- Ooo dling your video now

Another re-release:

TheUntouchables

You know the drill... Xvid, User Divx player, blah, blah, blah ;)

I am redoing my top five videos... Or, rather the videos I've recieved the most amount of positive feedback from. The Untouchables is liked by both male and females alike it seems. I am going to redo "Ghost" next, and I don't know what the fifth and final one will be.

As far as new, original music videos... I am going to concentrate on getting the re-releases done first and if I have time maybe do some new ones as well :)

Some new music videos for everyone's enjoyment.

Do not redistribute to sites like YouTube or MySpace.

You will need to download and install the free DIVX codec in order to watch these videos with Windows Media Player.

These are the best examples of being able to read a song and then edit the footage to coincides with not only lyrics, but a general sense of movement, rhythm and pacing.

All videos are 640x480 resolution and I cleaned up the image as best I could since most of the source material is degrading beyond repair and is 15-years old in some cases. Look past the quality and focus on the content in some cases.

Enjoy :)

Great video, and song! :D

I give credit where credit is due.

I don't mean to be nasty, but the quality of the majority of the music videos on the net is not really that high in my opinion, and when I come across what I consider stand-out videos, I will let the author(s) know because they deserve it :D

Thanks for the link.

I downloaded the "New Frontier" video and it was great.

:)

P.S. - SilverSun: CHECK YOUR PM!

Heres a new video I made

Song: I'll stand by you
Artist: The Pretenders
Movie: Now and then
Link: I'll stand by you

hitmanyr2k- Excellent video, I always feel bad for Danny in the film. Poor guy being treated like a dog but his fight moves are sweet! Btw, good song choice, Sevendust is a good rock band.

Pride and Prejudice (Darcy and Elizabeth) music video:

Mr. Darcy - Yellow

I used one of the best Coldplay songs ever.

:sigh:

Very good video.

Suggestion: You should upload the finished Windows Media (.wma) file to File Den and let people download it directly because the thing about Youtube is they convert the stereo-audio in videos to mono and the rest of the video into a streaming Flash-video which further degrades the quality.

Two Re-Releases:

Blade Runner

...and...
The Secret Of My Success

The reason I am rereleasing these two is because I have been perfecting the entire process of creating music videos using DVD footage from start to finish and these final copies are the best I can deliver in terms of quality (vs. size). They have been properly cropped and resized specifically for PC/Mac distribution and viewing.

I am not using Divix anymore and am now using Xvid -- Which, if you already have Divx 6.0 installed should play just fine because Xvid is an open source off-shoot of Divx 5.0.

Therefore, you do NOT have to download and install any new codecs to play Xvid encoded files like these if you have Divx already installed.

The reason I am switching/switched to Xvid as my codec of choice and using slightly larger file sizes is because I value high quality presentations, and also because most people have broadband, so it will only take a few minutes to download slightly larger files anyway.

If you can, play them in the Divx Player (included with the Divx Bundle Install) and not Windows Media Player because the WMP will rezie and display them incorrectly. You can play them in WMP if you want, but it will still be slightly out of proportion depending on a number of factors like your monitor's resolution and so-forth.
