even if you weren't amending your return you couldn't e-file it. I did mine along with my normal return.
i think the reason is because you have to include additional documents [closing statement/settlement papers, etc], and they ahve to verify, which is why it takes at least 5 weeks for the return.
yes, when you e-file you normally have to send in your W-2, but i guess they can't handle sorting out additional physical documents to place with an e-filed return.
