Well, a new satellite means more capacity, and they will eventually run out of numbers, so this is necessary. One thing, though, I'm surprised they've not used channels 01-48....
A remap of the channels/numbers is typical every year or so, usually to realign the groupings to accomodate new/dropped channels, but mainly just to mess with peoples timers, favourite lists, etc
I checked my 9242 this morning and still no channels mapped in the 1000's. I would have thought they would get picked up over night, or did Bell back out of this idea?
all there doing is shuffling around the premium movie channels. if you acully go to the channel and watch it for more than 2 seconds you would see that
I see 001-099 will be barker & Describe Video Channels
I see 100-700 being basically the way they are now
I see 800-999 being Audio (Radio, Galaxy & either XM or Sirius Radio)
I see 1000+ being HD channels
The thing is more then likely in 10 years all local channels will be in HD & SD. More then likely the majority of the specialty one(popular ones) will be in HD & SD.
So assuming as example all the channels presently on BEV went HD (and assuming BEV could handle this) there wouldn't be enough room in the 800's, hense move them in the 1000'+ range and you basically got 1000 to 9999 to play with.
