Why does American portray Asians so badly in entertainment, especially Asian women?

If you look at most Asian women in American entertainnment, they usually play whores or idiots. Asian men are usually portrayed as martial artists, but at least kids can look up to Jackie Chan or Jet Li. There's no really no Asian female to look up to in American entertainment.
