Just some speculation here...

coul dit be that the Anik satellites providing the Star Choice service have been granted landing rights by the FCC to provide signals in the US while the same permission has not been granted (or even applied for) for the Nimiqs?

You just don't seem to understand the "real world". Did you take a PHD in business and never work or see the real world.
No one is asking to reside in the USA and receive Bell's transmissions as that would be infringing on the US satalite provider's territory.
We are a mobile society and although we are Canadian residents most of the year, would like to travel and still watch our home stations as do the US motorhomer comming north (they still watch DISH or Direct tv while in Canada).
You say that Bell hasn't changed the rules. This was an advertising gimmick from Bell in the beginning (2000 - 2002) - advertising that the user could have a receiver at their home, cabin and motorhomes. You changed your policy in 2004 without a Grandfather clause. I suggested then that you buy back all the previously sold units from the users that bought them under the previous rules but I was snickerd at.
Quit number crunching and get "real".
I was just in Yuma and there are hundreds or thousands of Canadians who are using their Bell dishes and there are many who are changing to StarChoice because of your companies unfriendly hassling attitude. When I say hundreds or thousands I am not exaggerating as there were NO RV rental sites available in Yuma or the surrounding territories in January and Febuary (our campground has 1550 sites and there are hundreds of campgrounds).
No user who travels out of Canada is stealing programing but you are stealing our rights and we won't stand for it. There are other choices and you are forcing us to make them. We talk with our wallets.
Hope this helps you see beyond your number crunching world.

So now you know, you really have only one option.....don't tell anyone that you're going to do it!

Nope it takes just two successive key changes, they could be on the same day or can could fall over a week.

I know what she is saying don't make any sense. Call people when they are most likely to be gone, and then cut off their service because you cannot contact them.

Sounds like a good way to piss people off and lose customers.

The rule is that you should deactivate all the receivers that are at home in order to activate the receiver at the secon location. That said, unless you don't tell them they have no way of knowing that they are in 2 different location.

It won't be possible for you to activate the receiver throught the on line tool since it has been activated already in your friend's account

If you have alot of receivers (3-6) on your account and they are not connected to a phone line for a extended peroid of time, Bell will call confirm that they are all in use in the same household.

That KU dish is a ripoff considering you have to pay taxes and shipping, you can get a 20" Dish 500 off ebay (sometimes with a dual or quad twin lnb) for half that price.

Or you can pm Nuje.;)

No, I did not. There were no written agreements at the time. I paid my money (cash) at the store, brought home the box, setup everything and called to activate. I know things are different now but that is the way it worked 5 years ago.

Much like the CRTC the FCC does not allow foreign signals to be accepted in the US.

The CRTC is correct that it is a buisness choice by BELL to regulate 'account stacking'. Any representative who tells you otherwise is ducking their responsibility to deal with customer objections. Much like a representative who tells you the network charge on a cell phone is mandated by the CRTC. It is not.

Nem, who says the truth is out there.

I am not proposing anything. If anyone is breaking the law, it would be SC, not me and I doubt that they are. I, as a customer, am simply taking advantage of a program they are offering called the "Home Away from Home" program. Please don't suggest that I am breaking the law because I am not. It is all above board and completely ethical. Please point out what specific law you think that I am breaking.

Bell Express Vu doesn't have the broadcasting permit in the US. And laws in the US are apparently really strict on that...50 000$ US!

If Bell Express Vu finds out they shut off the receivers right away

Mudslinger,

Take your receiver with you along with your extra dish and other hardware in which you plan on aquiring the signal from YOUR various locations and enjoy watching tv if you so desire.
As you can tell there are people who have views from both ends of the spectrum. Both have valid points but it's like beating a dead horse here. The choice is entirely up to you, no one will know if you take it Enjoy your tv if you so desire and don't loose any sleep over it. Others will probably do that for you.
This question sure stirs people up all the time, it sure is fun reading.

Clients used to be able to use both locations simultaneously, and services back a few years were sold to accomodate clients like that, but EV got sued bu cable compagny who were saying that this was unfair competition. We lost the lawsuit, and the result is that rule.*

Agent, you are a perfect example of what is wrong within Customer Service at Express Vu, why does no-one within Express Vu actually answer the question they were asked.?

They always give an opinion or assume the person was asking something else and answer their own questions, NOT the Customers.

In future IF you ever reply to my postings JUST stick to answering my questions, nothing more nothing less.

Thank You.

My understanding is that the lawsuit revolved around it being an unfair fee-based service offering, not a simple perk.

While I understand the concerns about multiple locations in the light of account sharing which is clearly signal theft, that is NOT the issue being discussed here. There is nothing to be gained by either party through hard and fast enforcement of this rule. On the contrary, EV has a happy customer watching tv ONLY on the receivers registered on his account and ONLY in his own domicile without the nagging feeling he is doing something underhanded.

Bunch of BS! Do receivers have built in GPS now that wirelessly transmitttheir location to expressvu!:D
All the location ID is just a alpha numberic number generated by a mathmatical formula based on a receiver's ID number and time, it changes every 10 on dishpro receivers and every 60 on legacy receivers. It canot be changed remotely. And like a poster above said, bell is not going to call when your gone RV'ing, and if they did (on your cell) tell them you are RV'ing and your , they have no way of telling were your receivers are too, they can only tell when they were last connected to a phone line, and dialed in to expressvu, which is every 60 days on dishpro receivers (3100,4100, 5x00, 6100 5200 9200). The legacy receivers seem to dial in radomly.
