You wouldn't see any shortage whatsoever. The truckers would just refuse to work at their current rate (since they'd essentially be losing money by paying for gas), and renegotiate the cost of each load to be proportionate to the cost of gas. You'd see the price of everything go up noticeably, but there would be no shortages.

Fucking our entire economy over isn't going to result in the greener pastures that you imagine. You obviously have no idea on the impacts to our economy that $8 gas would have. It's sad to think that you are a voter.

Why do you continually parrot that as if everyone in the 70's believed that. No credible source thought that was true.

The cost of gas rising = the cost of everything rising. Add that to the lack of jobs and increased taxes = major fucking fail.

He was a big believer in the "nuclear winter" theory...that never happened, even with the Gulf War oil well fires.

The concept, of course, is based on the premise that burning of fossil fuels and carbon emissions would cause global cooling.

You realize Carl Sagan was also a proponent of man made global warming? He thought our atmosphere would heat due to increased CO2 like several other planets in our solar system.

The nuclear winter theory had to do with larger particles entering the atmosphere after a series of nuclear blasts.....which would block the sun from entering.

you know, I actually read the fucking book you are quoting from. At best, at time of publication he said the jury was still out on what effect would dominate: global warming through GHG, or global cooling via sulfates. and it was written a long time ago.
