Right and I said the government lost money by moving the top bracket.
Not that their total revenue was negative.

You can have an increase in tax revenue and still have comparatively lost money.

They were a one time stimulus idea (the effectiveness to be debated elsewhere).

By making them permanent you severely handicap revenues. Something which wasn't the original intent. The original intent was a short term economic boost.

It provides assistance for households making up to $84k I believe. Basically the middle class who are going to see their income taxes rise from 25% this year to 31% next year.

I don't need or want assistance right now. After the law has been fully implemented I may need it but still don't want it. I'll cut my budget even more to be able to continue to provide for my family without assistance from the taxpayers.

So the tax on medical devices and Cadillac plans exempts anyone making under $250k? Bullshit.

yeah and that's so incredibly low it's pathetic. They essentially don't pay taxes with deductions etc

Do you have a chart or something showing the tax receipts for the top bracket over the course of several years?

I must have missed that memo because last i heard this bill was about insuring poor people so they stop driving up insurance prices for the rest of us. And that fine should be adjusted.

By the way no one has yet mentioned that these tax cuts have been infrdable since they started. That's why the dems blocked it from the start. Personally I would rather see both wars end

Maybe that's because I don't consider myself on the left, but center right.

I'm also not a huge fan of the recent uses of supply side while running massive deficits.

he's talking about the amount you WOULD have made if you kept it at the higher rate vs the amount you made at a lower rate. Which is hypothetical as fuck given that people are more likely to cheat/stretch the rules when the tax rate is higher, people might have worked more, invested more, etc... if the tax rate is lower, etc...

Medicare, Medicaid, social security and almost every welfare program was not intended to be permanent either. This government of ours is a group of tricksters

Based on what I've seen thus far from Obama & Co, it could go either way.

Too early to call IMO. If the economy is still in the shitter, he'd be a goddamn fool not to renew.

Then again, Cap & Trade & HCR are anti-business, so the current crowd gives fuck-all about costing jobs.
