Ok, quick question. I know some car's engines are basically shot if the timing belt breaks while driving.
I was curious if anyone knows the extent of the damage if this were to happen on a 1998 Toyota Rav4. SOmeone I know just got one, and it has about 130,000 miles. The guy he got it from only had it a year, and he did not know if the owner before him even changed the timing belt.
My friend might get it changed anyway, but if he doesn't, and it snaps, how bad will it be?
So then it's a NON-interference belt?
I don't know, I;ve been reading up on it. Would it be about the same cost to get it replaced after it breaks as opposed to just doing it now?
Mike, spell interferEnce rigth, and it might be easier to look up, haha.
